ARMY OF KIND LOVE

Young soul, young man,
a son, a friend, a soldier.
A combination of beings inhabiting one body.
No one will understand this individual’s meaning
Except for the young soul, young woman,
a daughter, a friend, who leans to him.

He is the pillar of strength
that enables her to keep going.
A beacon of light when her days are grey.
He is the warm embrace
when the nights grow cold,
and he is the spark
that ignites the embers of her life.
His smile brings the floods of the heart
to the surface.
His eyes hold their entire future.

One single kiss between the two
changed the entire course of their history.
The future altered and now a mystery.
Together they face the world,
all the while letting their love unfold.
Impending departure lingers on their minds,
And their souls are teased
by the future goodbyes.

Days are spent experiencing the other,
as if meeting for the first time.
She breathes him in just to cling to his scent, hoping it will last for the months he is gone.
Throat tightens to think of being alone,
and it gets harder to breathe
the closer the time comes.
She knows she is not the first to ever experience such intense emotions.
However, he is the story of her life.
Together they begin their journey.
He’s a soldier deploying,
leaving behind his army wife.
